So it's a little while off, but it's time to start thinking about your 2010 LAN diary, and epic.LAN is kicking off the year with their third event and now in the new home of Uttoxeter Racecourse after the sad farewell to Brandies Bar earlier this year.

Thanks to support from Kustom and epic.LAN the prize for the online hunt has now been doubled to a £100 Kustom PCs voucher!

Our test of lateral thinking, code breaking and cryptic puzzle solving will be coming to your screens on the weekend of 19th & 20th December to give you something to do on a cold winter's weekend.

After two successful event-based puzzles, we've decided to test your skills purely online in this special edition of the hunt.

Anyone can join in, and it's absolutely free to take part. Registration is now open at http://hunt.epiclan.co.uk.

There will be some short teaser questions on the Friday evening to get you into the right mindset, and then the first round will kick off at 12noon on Saturday 19th.

The second round will begin at 12noon on Sunday 20th with the top 10 players gaining a 30 minute head start.

Finally, we've been having some thoughts about how we communicate with people at the events using our big screen. Our dev monkeys have been working away on writing some new software to drive our big screen to make things easy to update as well as doing some live queries of all of the games running on the LAN to show who is playing what on the screen.
